Caitlin McCann

Caitlin McCann is a PhD student and Graduate Research Assistant at North Carolina State University since August 2025, focusing on woody ornamental genetics under Dr. Hsuan Chen. Previously, Caitlin served as a Graduate Research Assistant in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics at The University of Georgia from August 2023 to August 2025, working with Dr. Dario Chavez. Caitlin's experience includes a Seeds Operations Internship at Syngenta in 2023, where leadership of seasonal employees in tissue sampling operations was a highlight. Additional roles include undergraduate research positions at The University of Alabama, investigating the effects of warming on invertebrate populations and studying invasive Johnson grass. Caitlin also interned as a NA RD Stewardship Intern at Syngenta in summer 2022, contributing to training methods across North America. Caitlin holds a BS in Biology from The University of Alabama and a Master's degree in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics from The University of Georgia, with ongoing PhD studies at North Carolina State University.
