Amber Parker has extensive experience in educational technology and support, currently serving as the Director of Outreach and Support at North Carolina Virtual Public School since June 2019. Prior to this role, Amber held multiple positions at Johnston Community College from October 2007 to June 2019, including Department Chair for Educational Technologies & Computer Sciences, Learning Technologies Administrator, Media Services Manager, and Educational Media Specialist. Earlier in their career, Amber worked as a Production Manager at the Raleigh News & Observer - Cary News from June 1987 to April 1993. Amber holds a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from East Carolina University (2007-2009), a Bachelor of Science in Business Education/Information Technology from East Carolina University - College of Business (2000-2007), and an Associate's Degree in Commercial Art & Advertising from Johnston Community College (1987-1989).

NC Virtual provides students with expanded academic options by offering online courses (AP, Honors, World Languages, etc.), online services such as test preparation, career planning services, credit recovery, and online college courses to North Carolina students. By virtue of our online course delivery, students from all areas of our state will now have access to courses and highly qualified teachers in subjects that they may not have available at their local schools.
