Chris Preston is a seasoned IT professional with extensive experience in systems engineering and network management. Currently serving as a Senior Systems Engineer at North County Transit District since June 2017, Chris previously worked as a Network Engineer at Mitek Systems Inc. from 2010 to February 2017 and at College Loan Corporation from November 2003 to November 2008. During the tenure at College Loan Corporation, responsibilities included designing and maintaining a campus-wide network and datacenter connectivity via VPN. Earlier experience includes serving as a Systems Administrator at i-SAFE, where support was provided for qmail and Apache on Solaris, and as an IT Specialist at Nordson ASYMTEK. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology/Security from the University of Phoenix, obtained between 2006 and 2010.

North County Transit District is the primary public transportation system in North San Diego County. Every year, millions of passengers ride our COASTER commuter trains, SPRINTER hybrid rail trains, BREEZE buses, FLEX and LIFT paratransit. Our team is committed to providing safe, convenient, reliable and user-friendly transportation services to people in the region. We have more than 63 miles of rail lines serving 23 stations, and 30 BREEZE bus routes with more than 1,600 stops. In recent years, we added new COASTER locomotives that have a 90% emission reduction compared to other locomotives and 64% more horsepower. Since FY19, we have also added 70 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the BREEZE fleet.
