Jose Cervantes is currently employed as a Transit Planner at North County Transit District. Prior to this role, Jose worked as a Goods Movement Planning Intern at San Diego Association of Governments. Jose has also had experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at San Diego State University, a Customer Service Assistant at San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, an Information and Trip Planning Clerk, and a Resource Center Associate at Altus Schools. Additionally, Jose has taught English as a Guest English Teacher in Korea and has interned at the San Diego Diplomacy Council and the International Rescue Committee. Jose holds a Master of City Planning degree from San Diego State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Security & Conflict Resolution.

North County Transit District is the primary public transportation system in North San Diego County. Every year, millions of passengers ride our COASTER commuter trains, SPRINTER hybrid rail trains, BREEZE buses, FLEX and LIFT paratransit. We have more than 63 miles of rail lines serving 23 stations, and 30 BREEZE bus routes with more than 1,600 stops. In recent years, we added new COASTER locomotives that have a 90% emission reduction compared to other locomotives and 64% more horsepower. Since FY19, we have also added 70 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the BREEZE fleet.
