Dr. William Sumner received a B.S. in Applied Biology at the Georgia Institute of Technology before attending medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dr. Sumner completed two Residencies in General Surgery at the University of Texas at Houston and a Research Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is also in Houston.
Dr. Sumner continued his post-graduate education with a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology and post-baccalaureate class work in Epidemiology at the University of Miami. He is currently a member of North Florida Surgeons and a staff member at St. Vincent’s Hospital. When Dr. Sumner is not helping his patients with their cancer treatment, he is an active member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons.
