Garland ISD (Sachse High School)
Wilgus Burton worked as a Volunteer and then Planetarium Director at The Science Place from 1986 to 1997. Wilgus then joined Garland ISD in 1997 as a Planetarium Director and Teacher. In 2018, Wilgus retired.
Wilgus Burton has a strong educational background, with degrees from various institutions. In 1974, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronomy from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 1974 to 1979. Later, in 1989, Wilgus obtained a Texas Educator Certification in Physics and Mathematics from Texas A&M University-Commerce, completing the program in 1991. Building upon their previous education, they went on to pursue a Masters of Education degree in Educational Technology / Leadership at the same university, attending from 2008 until 2013.

Garland ISD (Sachse High School)
Garland Independent School District services the communities of Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse, Texas. Sachse High School is the seventh high school in GISD, located at 3901 Miles Road, Sachse, Texas. Construction on the facility began in 2000 completed in 2002 as a state of the art 5A educational facility with technology integrated throughout the main facility and athletic complex. Our inaugural student body consisted of 815 students in the 9th and 10th grades adding subsequent grades in each of the following years. Our charter class and first graduates are Class of 2005.
