Eguono Obi

Eguono Obi, PhD has over 24 years of work experience in various roles related to reservoir engineering and simulation. Eguono is currently serving as the Reservoir Engineering Lead at North Oil Company Qatar since February 2023.

Prior to this, Eguono worked at TotalEnergies for a significant period of time. Eguono held the role of Senior Reservoir Simulation Advisor and Head of Reservoir Simulation Technology from January 2020 to February 2023. In this position, they led three reservoir engineering technical software development teams and served as a technical advisor for reservoir simulations and evaluation studies, including CCS and EOR. Eguono was also a company sponsor in the INTERSECT Alliance.

Before that, Eguono was the Manager of Reservoir Simulation Development at TotalEnergies from August 2015 to January 2020. Eguono led the reservoir simulation development team and implemented project work plans, effectively reducing product development cycle times. Eguono also provided technical advice for reservoir simulation studies and served as a company sponsor in the INTERSECT Alliance.

Eguono was the Head of INTERSECT Development at TotalEnergies from November 2012 to August 2015. Eguono served as the technical lead of the internal INTERSECT Simulator development team, ensuring the successful deployment and adoption of INTERSECT in the regional market. Eguono was also a company requirement lead and later sponsor in the INTERSECT Alliance.

Eguono started their career at TotalEnergies in 2011 as a Senior Reservoir Engineer, where they provided expertise and specialist advice on reservoir simulators and played a key role in the INTERSECT due diligence process. Eguono also co-developed and designed an in-house INTERSECT Reservoir Simulation training course.

Before joining TotalEnergies, Eguono worked as a Reservoir Simulation Engineer at SLB from December 2007 to November 2011. Eguono gained experience in using reservoir simulators during this time.

Prior to their work at SLB, Eguono worked at TotalEnergies as a Research Engineer-Reservoir Engineering from September 2004 to December 2007. Eguono focused on developing in-house reservoir engineering software for 4D seismic monitoring and history-matching and led company-sponsored R&D projects in universities related to reservoir engineering, simulation, 4D seismic, and history-matching.

Eguono began their professional career as a System Analyst at International Business Systems Limited from July 1998 to September 1999. Eguono was responsible for leading the development of application packages for Cheque processing systems and devices. Eguono also designed and developed customized client-based database systems.

Eguono also worked as a Petroleum Engineer at Texaco from March 1997 to June 1998. In this role, they were involved in production monitoring, reservoir evaluation, reserves estimation, and the analysis and interpretation of wireline logs and fluid data.

Throughout their career, Eguono Obi, PhD has demonstrated expertise in reservoir engineering, simulation, and software development, and has actively participated in industry alliances and sponsored R&D projects.

Eguono Obi, PhD, completed their education at Imperial College London and Cranfield School of Management. Eguono earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London in 2004. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Petroleum Engineering from the same institution in 2000. In 2006, Eguono received a Diploma in Developing General Management Potential from Cranfield School of Management.
