Kevin Debono

Kevin Debono has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. Kevin is currently a Senior Information Security Specialist at North Oil Company Qatar since September 2016. Prior to this, they co-founded Sargas Technologies Ltd in 2014 and served as the Managing Director until November 2016. At Sargas Technologies, they provided bespoke IT solutions for businesses, with a focus on improving IT system efficiency and cost savings.

Before Sargas Technologies, Kevin was associated with Yemen LNG Company from 2007 to 2013. Kevin held the roles of IST Projects Engineer/System Architect and IST Planning and Security Coordinator. During their tenure, they managed several significant projects including the migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, the migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 for 800 desktops, and the virtualization of 80% of servers using Microsoft Hyper-V. Kevin also automated various processes using scripts and advanced VB scripts, deployed applications using admin studio and Group Policies, and set up infrastructure systems such as HP BladeSystem enclosure, EVA6000 SAN, and HP tape library.

Earlier in their career, Kevin worked as a Systems Engineer at CCBill EU for a year, where they successfully implemented a PKI infrastructure and designed and implemented web applications using ASPs and VB scripts. Kevin also worked as a Systems Engineer at Total SA Nigeria for a few months.

From 1998 to 2004, Kevin worked at Total SA Iran, initially as a Network Administrator and later as a Systems Engineer. During their time there, they stabilized the infrastructure environment, implemented access policies and standardized builds, and established procedures and training for local support staff. Before joining Total SA Iran, they worked as a Web Developer freelancer, focusing on web development using VBScripts and ASP.

Overall, Kevin Debono has a wealth of experience in information technology, particularly in project management, system architecture, security, virtualization, automation, and web development.

Kevin Debono completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from La Salle University in 2002. Kevin also obtained a BSc in IT from the same university during the same time period.

In 2022, Kevin enrolled in the SANS Technology Institute and pursued a Master of Science in Information Security Engineering with a specialization in Cyber Security. Kevin is expected to graduate in 2027.

Kevin has also earned several certifications throughout their career. In 2016, they obtained an Associate - Enterprise Content Management Version 1 certification from EMC. In 2020, they became a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) from the SANS Institute. In 2022, they obtained the GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) certification from GIAC Certifications and the GIAC Certified Windows Security Administrator (GCWN) certification from the SANS Institute. Most recently, in 2023, they became a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from the SANS Technology Institute.
