Dr. Lizet Zuñiga (She/Her/Ella)

Licensed Social Worker/Case Manager/Counselor at North Plainfield School District

Dr. Lizet Zuñiga is a licensed bilingual social worker in New Jersey, specializing in school social work. She also serves as a lecturer at Rutgers University, where she instructs courses in Social Work. Dr. Zuñiga holds both a Doctoral degree and a Master’s degree in Social Work, which she attained from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and a degree in Psychology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.

Dr. Zuñiga has gained extensive experience in various mental health settings throughout her professional journey. She previously was Clinical Supervisor for the Program for Assertive Community Treatment (P.A.C.T.), overseeing a multidisciplinary team.

In her current capacity as a School Social Worker for the Child Study Team within New Jersey's public schools, Dr. Zuñiga is responsible for providing case management services to special education students across all grade levels in the district, as well as to students enrolled in private special education institutions outside the district.

Dr. Zuñiga's professional interests include supporting students with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD) and promoting self-care practices for educators working with students with EBD.
