Dr. Kevin Katz

Dr. Kevin Katz has extensive experience in the field of microbiology and infection prevention. Since 2018, they have been serving as the Head of Microbiology at Sunnybrook. Prior to this, they held various roles at North York General Hospital, including Infection Prevention and Control Consultant, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, and Medical Director of Research and Innovation. Dr. Kevin also worked as a Professor at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, starting in 2021. Additionally, Dr. Katz has experience as the Chief Medical Officer at Practice Health Check Corp and as the Medical Director at Shared Hospital Laboratory Inc. Dr. Kevin has also served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Dept of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from 2011 to 2021. Furthermore, they worked as a Medical Consultant at the Infection Prevention and Control section of Public Health Ontario from 2014 to 2019.

Dr. Kevin Katz earned their MD CM degree in Medicine from McGill University in 1997. Dr. Kevin then completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Toronto from 1997 to 2001. Following that, they pursued Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, earning a FRCPC degree from the University of Toronto from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, during the same period, they also obtained an MSc degree in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology from the University of Toronto.
