Ed Preston

Director of Planning Programs at Northeast Florida Regional Council

Ed Preston has held various planning and consulting roles since 1985. Ed began their career as a Project Director at BHR Planning Group, Inc. in 1985. From 1986-1988, they worked as a Strategic Planning Analyst at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. In 1988, they founded Ed Preston & Associates, Inc. and served as Consultant and President until 1991. From 2001-2004, they worked at the City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division as a Senior Planner. During this time, they also acted as Planning Chief for Duval County's Emergency Operations Center. From 2004-2006, they were the Planning Chief and Planning Administrator at the Northeast Florida Regional Couincil. From 2006-2018, they worked as the Director of Planning and Zoning at the Baker County Board of County Commissioners. In 2018, they began working as a Planner at the Putnam County Commission.

Ed Preston attended Florida State College at Jacksonville from 1973 to 1975, where they earned an Associate of Arts (AA) in Pre-Architecture. Ed then attended the University of Florida from 1977 to 1978, though they did not receive a degree. Finally, they attended Jacksonville University from 1979 to 1981, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Urban Studies/Affairs.
