Darren LaShelle has extensive work experience in the media industry. Darren started their career as a Commercial Producer at Wtov9 in 1989 and then moved on to become a Promotion Producer at WUPW Fox Toledo in 1993. In 1995, they joined WGTE Public Media where they held various roles such as Promotion Producer, Programming Director, Director of TV Broadcast Services, and Director of Content and Creative Services. During their time at WGTE, they oversaw content projects for television, radio, web, and marketing, and acted as an executive producer. In 2015, LaShelle joined Northern California Public Media as the Director of Content and later became the President and CEO in 2020. In this role, they manage multiple media outlets including KRCB TV 22, KPJK TV 60, and KRCB 104.9 Radio.
Darren LaShelle completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Media from Marietta College, where they studied from 1985 to 1989. In 2021, they pursued a certificate as a Public Media Diversity Fellow from the Riley Institute at Furman University. Following this, in 2022 and 2023, LaShelle enrolled in the Corporation for Public Broadcasting - Digital Transformation Program at the Poynter Institute.
