Martin Wood

Martin Wood is an experienced education leader currently serving as Associate Executive Principal at Northern Education Trust since September 2013, where responsibilities include leading and supporting schools in systems leadership, school improvement, and enhancing outcomes for students. Notably, Martin led The Blyth Academy to record-breaking outcomes in 2024 and transformed Walbottle Academy from special measures to an Ofsted GOOD rating, making it the most improved school in its Local Authority. Martin's leadership fostered the development of school leaders and improvement strategies across various schools in the region, resulting in a consistent record of good or outstanding ratings by Ofsted throughout the trust. Prior experience includes roles such as Associate Principal and Vice Principal within a multi-academy trust, as well as a Non Commissioned Officer in the British Army. Martin holds a Master's degree from Durham University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sunderland.
