Andrew Jones

Chief Parliamentary Counsel at Northern Territory Government

Andrew Jones has over 15 years of work experience in various government sectors. Andrew started their career in 2005 as an Assistant Parliamentary Counsel for the Victorian Government. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Principal Legal Officer for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). In 2009, they joined the Victorian Government as a Senior Parliamentary Counsel and held this role until 2017. In 2017, they became the Chief Parliamentary Counsel for the Northern Territory Government.

Andrew Jones attended Monash University from 1998 to 2003, where they obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with a focus on Law. Andrew also completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History, Archaeology, and Politics from 1998 to 2000 at the same institution. Later, from 2010 to 2013, they pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Constitutional Law and Human Rights from Monash University. In addition, Andrew obtained certifications as an Australian legal practitioner from the Law Society of the Northern Territory and as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria from the Supreme Court of Victoria.
