Director Freight And Logistics Within Infrastructure NT at Northern Territory Government

Leon Smit's work experience begins with their role as the Director of Freight and Logistics within Infrastructure NT for the Northern Territory Government starting from June 2023. In this position, they provide high-level policy development and advice for strategic freight and logistics infrastructure planning, as well as leading the development and delivery of complex reports and strategic planning documents.

Prior to this, from June 2020 to March 2023, Leon worked as the Manager of Logistics Offshore for Santos Ltd, where they were responsible for managing all aspects of logistics operations for the Santos Offshore Division.

Later, they became the Perth Supply Chain Team Leader, managing contracts and procurement teams, and then served as a Contracts Engineer & Procurement Specialist, responsible for procuring goods and services and managing various categories.

Overall, Leon has extensive experience in freight and logistics, project management, and supply chain management in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Leon Smit earned a National Diploma in Purchasing Management from Tshwane University of Technology from 1984 to 1986. Leon later pursued a National Higher Diploma in Management Practice at the same university from 1993 to 1995.
