Paul Gilbert serves as the Executive Director of NOVA Parks, overseeing the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and reporting to a board representing six local governments. With a robust portfolio in leadership, Paul is also an accomplished author, having published two recognized books on public park management and leadership. In addition, Paul contributes as an Adjunct Faculty member and Executive in Residence in the Recreation Management Program at George Mason University, where teaching and mentorship are key roles. Previously, Paul held significant positions in various organizations, including being a board member and chairman at the Fairfax County Convention and Visitors Corporation and serving on the Board of Regents for the NRPA Revenue Development & Management School. Paul is also the founder of the Virginia United Land Trusts and has an educational background that includes degrees from institutions such as The Wharton School and Harvard University.
