James Cowan

James Cowan is an experienced finance and infrastructure executive currently serving as a Board Member for the Building Ontario Fund, a provincial agency focused on critical infrastructure projects, since April 2024. Cowan is also the Vice Chair of Global Private Markets at Northleaf Capital Partners. Previously, Cowan held the position of CEO & President at MIRA Americas, Inc., co-founding two private infrastructure funds totaling US$2.2 billion, and served as Managing Director at Macquarie Asset Management. Additional roles include Director at Capstone Infrastructure Corporation, Vice-President at TD Securities, Associate Director at Hambros, and Principal at Ernst and Young. Cowan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western University and has been associated with professional bodies such as the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals and Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
