John Tressa

Chief Nursing Executive at NorthShore University HealthSystem

John Tressa is the System Chief Nursing Executive for NorthShore –Edward-Elmhurst Health and is responsible for driving nursing excellence across the entire system. Prior to assuming his current role in January 2023, he served in progressive leadership roles since joining NorthShore University HealthSystem in 2018.

Prior to joining NorthShore, Tressa served as the System Senior Vice President for the Heart and Vascular, as well as Trauma Service Lines for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, TX. Prior to that, he served in CNO, COO and CEO roles at large healthcare organizations in Houston. Tressa spent the majority of his clinical career as a Flight Nurse/Chief Flight Nurse in academic medical centers.

Tressa received a Diploma in Nursing from Ravenswood Hospital Medical Center School of Nursing, and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of St. Francis, a Master of Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from American Sentinel University. Tressa is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Northern Kentucky University. He is also Board Certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced.
