Terese Gorman Black

School Principal at Northside Catholic Academy

Terese Gorman Black has extensive experience in the education field. Terese started working at Trinity High School in 2008, where they held various roles including School Improvement Coordinator. In this role, they led department chairs and teachers in using data to improve instruction, facilitated professional development sessions, and analyzed data to improve academic placement. Terese also led the review and evaluation of school programs and developed a school improvement plan. Terese served as a liaison with the COGNIA review team. Additionally, Terese taught various subjects including English, Film, and Theory of Knowledge to students of different grade levels. Terese also served as the Department Chair, where they led the evaluation and revision of the English curriculum and mentored new teachers. In 2019, Terese served as the Summer School Principal, responsible for all aspects of the program. Currently, Terese is the School Principal at Northside Catholic Academy starting in 2023.

Terese Gorman Black completed their Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership - Principalship from DePaul University in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Teaching (MAT) in Secondary Education and Teaching from Dominican University in 2008. Terese holds additional certifications including a Principal Licensure K-12 from the Illinois State Board of Education (obtained in 2021), a Professional Educator's License from the same institution (obtained in 2007), and an Illinois Performance Evaluation Training from ISBE (obtained in 2021). Terese also has an Instructional Coaching Certificate, Level 1 from the Chicago Coaching Institute.
