Joe Funk

Joe Funk, MD, has extensive experience in emergency medicine, currently serving as Chief of Staff and Emergency Physician at Northside Hospital since 2001, along with the role of Vice Chief of Staff on the Medical Executive Committee. Prior roles include Director at Northside Emergency Associates from 2006 to 2013 and Emergency Physician positions at Piedmont Healthcare, Emory University, and UAB Medicine. Joe Funk began a career in emergency medical services as an EMS Paramedic from 1978 to 1988. Education credentials include a Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, an Emergency Medicine Residency from Emory University, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio, along with completion of the Emergency Department Director's Certificate from the ACEP Directors' Academy.
