Mihail E. Popescu

Mihail E. Popescu serves as a Senior Geotechnical Consultant at HBK Engineering, LLC since March 2017, while also holding adjunct professorships at Northwestern University and Illinois Institute of Technology, where Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering and geotechnical engineering courses are taught, respectively. Since 2000, Mihail has provided geotechnical consulting services in the Greater Chicago Area and has contributed to research in the field. Previous positions include Professional Consultant at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and Lead Geotechnical Engineer at Parsons Brinckerhoff. Additionally, Mihail has held visiting professorships at several universities, including the University of Natal, University of Tokushima, and University of Edinburgh. Mihail holds a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from Bucharest University of Civil Engineering.
