Jon Kossow

Managing Partner at Norwest Venture Partners

Jon joined Norwest in 2009 and brings more than 20 years of investment experience to his role as managing partner. Jon is one of three managing partners responsible for the firm, which has 18 investment partners and more than $9.5 billion in capital under management. Based in Norwest’s Palo Alto office, Jon is focused on investing across a wide range of sectors, with particular interest in information services, software, internet, and consumer companies.

His current investments include Appriss, Avetta (recapitalized by Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe), Clarus Commerce, Cority (recapitalized by Thoma Bravo), Infutor, Topo Athletic, VanMoof, Vuori, Wine Access and YipitData. Jon was previously involved with 1010data (acquired by Advance), Manta Media (acquired by Boostability), Rainmaker – Hospitality (acquired by Cendyn), Rainmaker – Multifamily (acquired by RealPage), The Retail Equation (acquired by Appriss), and Turnitin (acquired by Advance).

Prior to joining Norwest, Jon was a Director at Goldman Sachs, where he headed the San Francisco, California office for the firm’s Americas Special Situations Group. In this role, he focused on growth equity investments from $15 million to $200 million across a variety of industries.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Jon spent 10 years at TA Associates in Menlo Park, a private equity firm with $24 billion in capital under management. He began his tenure at TA as an Associate in the Technology practice in 1998 and soon progressed to become a Vice President. Later on as a Principal, he led TA’s West Coast Business Services Practice. During his career, Jon has worked with such companies as 5.11 Tactical, Asurion, Babcock Jenkins, Circle Graphics, CoreLogic (CLGX), Logistics Health, TogetherSoft, Voyant Technologies and WebSideStory.

Earlier in his career, Jon spent two years at Leo Burnett USA, a global advertising agency, where he managed strategy development and campaign management for several Fortune 500 companies.

Jon obtained his bachelor of arts degree in biology from Harvard College, where he was a member of the Varsity Swim Team.
