Nossa Familia Coffee

Nossa Familia Coffee started out of pride and frustration. Fed up with an engineering job that was mundane and unfulfilling, my thoughts kept drifting to the incredible coffee farms in Brazil where I spent much of my childhood. Filled with a deep sense of pride for the beautiful work my family had been doing in Brazil for over one hundred years, I knew I wanted to share their coffee with my community in Portland. We started slowly and unconventionally. We did not have a cafe or even a roastery in the early days. Instead, we focused on relationships. My family helped us get started by shipping a container of coffee to Portland on consignment. We found a local roasting partner and got customers excited about our family connection and heritage. We were in business. We have evolved since our inception in 2004: we opened our roastery in 2012 and our Espresso Bar in 2013. We have begun expanding beyond the family line to bring you coffees from other families and co-ops in different growing regions of the world. Nossa Familia will continue to evolve as a company, but our roots in social and environmental responsibility, coffee quality, and relationships are deeply rooted in our heritage and will forever remain strong. -Augusto Carneiro, CEO
