Kristina Ibañez Garikano

Kristina Ibañez Garikano is the current Head of Genomics at Nostos Genomics. Kristina has also worked as a Bioinformatician and PhD student at Queen Mary University of London, CNIO, and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. From September 2013 to October 2016, they worked as a Clinical bioinformatician (Postdoc) at INGEMM - Hospital Universitario La Paz. There they were responsible for the analyses of SNVs on targeted panel of genes, whole exome sequencing, trios, development of a tool to detect copy number variations in targeted panels of genes, somatic mosaicism detection in rare diseases and some kinds of cancer, raw data quality analysis. Kristina also worked closely with the wet lab people as well as the clinician or the expert of the corresponding panel of genes/ disease, trying to "speak the same language", and so, improve the accuracy in terms of specificity and sensitivity of all our implementations. In February 2019, they started working as a Genome Analyst at the Centre for Genomics Research at AstraZeneca and held that position until October 2019 when they took on their current role as Head of Genomics at Nostos Genomics.

Kristina Ibañez Garikano received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Kristina also holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science Research with a focus in Artificial Intelligence from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In addition, Kristina Ibañez Garikano holds an Engineer's degree in Computer Engineering from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a Superior Degree in Violoncello from Conservatorio San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa) y Amaniel (Madrid).

They are on a team with Rocío Acuña Hidalgo - Co-Founder & CTO, Christophe Meynier - VP, Business Development & Sales, and Ansgar Lange - COO. Kristina Ibañez Garikano reports to David Gorgan, Co-Founder & CEO.
