Roger Smith

Roger Smith is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in reliability and product line engineering, currently serving as the NAM Reliability Engineering Manager at NOV since May 2012. Smith has a proven track record in developing innovative bearing assemblies for rotary steerable assist mud lube motors and has led significant engineering updates. Prior experience includes designing and improving a UAV test stand at Brigham Young University, where Smith implemented an instrumentation scheme to optimize engine performance. Additional roles include research on natural fibers and contributions to the BYU Sounding Rocket Club, culminating in a notable rocket launch that secured a second-place finish in a competitive engineering contest. Smith began the career journey as an administrative assistant intern with the Aerospace Industries Association, where project coordination and advocacy for aerospace funding were key responsibilities. Smith holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
