Nicole Boutilier

EVP, Medicine & Clinical Operations at Nova Scotia Health Authority

Dr. Nicole Boutilier was raised in Pictou County and attended Dalhousie Medical School. She completed her family medicine residency in Alberta and spent several years working in rural Alberta providing full scope family practice in the town of Strathmore and at Siksika First Nation. For the past 17 years she has practiced medicine in rural Nova Scotia, and has had experience in a variety of clinical settings including emergency medicine, collaborative primary health care, and Youth Health Centres.

Since 2005, she has held a variety of progressive leadership positions, including interim President and CEO, VP medicine, and chief of emergency in the former Pictou County Health Authority. She has also worked towards developing her leadership competencies by completing the Physician Leadership Program at the University of Toronto in 2008, and obtaining the Canadian Certified Physician Executive (CCPE) designation in 2014. She is a certificant of the Canadian College of Family Physicians since 1997 and obtained her fellowship in 2018. Since 2015 at NSHA she served as medical executive director for Northern Zone and, most recently, interim co-vice-president of medicine.
