Jamie MacDonald

VP, Power Production at Nova Scotia Power Incorporated

Jamie joined Nova Scotia Power in 2000 as a Senior Plant Engineer at Lingan. He was appointed Vice President of Power Production in August 2019.

Jamie has increasingly senior roles in the areas of Engineering, Maintenance, Plant Management and Capital Project Management. Prior to his current role, he was Plant Manager of Trenton Generating Station, Senior Plant Manager of Lingan Generating Station and Senior Director of Power Production.

Jamie led Nova Scotia Power’s first formal continuous improvement process at Trenton Generating Station, a process now used throughout the organization. He also leads many change activities within power production as the business transitions to increased renewable energy integration. Jamie gained considerable experience in Nova Scotia Power’s hydro re-investment strategy for the long-term sustainability of this key renewable energy resource. Currently, Jamie leads all facets of power production in providing reliable, cost effective and sustainable energy for Nova Scotia Power customers.

Jamie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Dalhousie University (formerly TUNS) in Halifax and is a registered professional engineer in Nova Scotia. He also holds an Environmental Assessment Certification through Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Jamie is a member of the Board of Directors of The Nova Scotia Sea School, which promotes seafaring adventure experience skills with a focus to diverse and marginalized youth.
