Nicolas S. has a comprehensive work experience in the chemistry and pharmaceutical industry. Nicolas started their career at Servier as a Chemical Process Development Scientist, where they focused on optimizing synthetic pathways and conducting analytical follow-ups. Nicolas then joined Cephalon as a Chemical Process Research Scientist, where they supervised scale-up processes, worked on synthesis reworkings, and conducted purification of active drugs. After that, they moved to Galapagos, where they held various roles such as CMC Chemistry Lead, Sr. Lead Scale-up, and CMC Drug Substance Development Director. In these roles, they were responsible for drug substance development, synthesis route development, process development and scale-up, evaluation of physico-chemical and stability data, and impurity identification/synthesis. Currently, they are the VP Global Chemistry at NovAliX, leading chemistry, analytics, and process development teams and ensuring project targets are delivered on time and within expected quality.
Nicolas S. obtained their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg I) from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed a DEA in Pharmacology and Pharmacochemistry in 1999 and a DEA in Molecular and Supramolecular Organic Chemistry in 1998, both at the same university. Nicolas also holds a degree in Engineering with a specialization in Organic Chemistry from ECPM Ecole européenne de chimie polymères et matériaux de Strasbourg, which they completed from 1993 to 1996.
