Joan Solomando Martí has worked in a variety of roles in the food industry since 2017. In 2017, they were an R&D Food Engineer for CHOCOLATES SIMÓN COLL S.A. and for Food Ink - The World's First 3D-Printing Restaurant. In 2018, they were a Product Engineer for Makeat, where they were the head of technology strategy and led projects that applied innovative solutions into the food industry. Since 2019, they have been the Director of Product Development and Senior Food Engineer at NOVAMEAT, where they have developed the world's "most realistic plant-based steak" to date, according to The Guardian, and is developing the next generation of plant-based meat substitutes.
Joan Solomando Martí completed a Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering at Universitat de les Illes Balears from 2011 to 2015. Following this, they obtained a Master of Science in Key Enabling Technologies for the Food and Bioprocessing Industry from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2017.
