Matthew Hammersley

Chief Executive Officer at Novel Effect

Matthew Hammersley has held a variety of roles in the legal and technology industries. In 2003, they worked as a Dye Research Engineering Assistant for Milliken & Company and as a Cryptography Technician for SPAWAR. Matthew then worked as a Co-op/Patent Agent/Law Clerk for Dority & Manning, P.A. from 2004-2010. From 2010-2012, they were a Patent Attorney for Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz LLP, where they managed U.S. and international patent portfolios, provided patentability opinions, and assisted in litigation matters. In 2015, they became the Chief Executive Officer of Novel Effect, Inc., a VC-backed startup improving the lives of families and classrooms with a new category of voice interactive media and entertainment. Matthew is an alumni of the Alexa Accelerator, in the inaugural class.

Matthew Hammersley attended Clemson University from 2002 to 2007, where they earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Matthew then attended Charleston School of Law from 2007 to 2010, where they earned a Doctor of Law (JD).
