In 2010, prior to their work at AdventHealth, LaToya worked as a Donor Processor Supervisor/Phlebotomist at Talecris Plasma Resources. Here, they performed phlebotomy and donor screening, coached donors on disease prevention and wellness, and provided training for new employees.

LaToya Ellis, MHA, NBC-HWC, CIHWC, earned their Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree from the University of Phoenix in 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Texas Woman's University from 2000 to 2005. In addition to their educational background, LaToya has obtained several certifications, including National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) from the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching in 2022, Certified Intrinsic Coach and Certified Intrinsic Health & Wellbeing Coach from Intrinsic Solutions, International in 2021. LaToya also holds Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained in January 2022.
