Samantha Bovaird

Assay Engineer at nplex biosciences

Samantha Bovaird has a diverse work experience in the field of biological research. In 2014, they started as a Research Assistant at McGill University, where they assisted with experiments related to microRNA-mediated gene silencing and behavioral plasticity in guppies. Samantha utilized techniques such as PAR-CLIP, co-immunoprecipitation, CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing, and maze experiments. From 2017 to 2020, Samantha worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM) / Montreal Clinical Research Institute, where they designed and implemented a project focused on RNA movement in subcellular space when exposed to DNA damage. Samantha conducted various assays including immunofluorescence microscopy, RNA-sequencing, mass spectrometry, quantitative real-time PCR, protein electrophoresis, immunoblotting, and comet assays. Samantha also analyzed large-scale datasets and integrated them with previous research. More recently, they joined Nomic Bio in 2020 and held roles as an Assay Analyst, Lab Ops Associate, and currently an Assay Engineer, although no specific start or end dates are provided for their current role.

Samantha Bovaird's education history begins in 2013 when they enrolled at McGill University. Samantha completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry in 2017. After that, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Experimental Medicine from McGill University from 2017 to 2020.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Samantha has also obtained several certifications. In September 2018, they received training in Mental Health First Aid from the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Samantha also completed Biosafety Training at McGill University in October 2020. Furthermore, Samantha gained knowledge in Principles of Laboratory Radiation Safety Training from the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM) / Montreal Clinical Research Institute in April 2018.
