Abraar Karan

Abraar Karan, MD MS MPH DTMH is an Infectious Disease Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine, engaged in global infectious disease epidemiology through an NIH T32 program. Karan contributes to NPR as a writer on COVID-19 and global health, while also serving as a reviewer for the Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal and columnist for BMJ. As co-founder of Longsleeve, Karan developed an award-winning insect repellent. Karan's background includes residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital, epidemic response work with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and editorial leadership at the American Medical Association. Karan's educational credentials include degrees in Medicine and Public Health from Harvard and expertise in Epidemiology from Stanford and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
