Barbara Sprunt

Barbara Sprunt is a seasoned journalist and producer currently serving as a Correspondent at NPR's Washington Desk since September 2013, specializing in political reporting and coverage of significant events, including the White House and Capitol Hill. Barbara's extensive experience includes acting as a senior editor for state government coverage, leading a team of reporters, and producing content for various NPR platforms, including podcasts and newsletters. As a 2025 Journalism Fellow at FASPE, Barbara engages in an intensive program focusing on professional ethics. Previous roles encompass reporting for WAMU 88.5, participating in the Paul Miller Reporting Fellowship, and internships at various media organizations, complemented by a degree in Public Communication and Political Science from American University.
