Bruce Auster is an accomplished journalist and editor with extensive experience in managing and producing impactful news content. Currently serving as the Managing Editor at NPR since July 2017, Bruce oversees the Collaborative Journalism Network initiative, fostering collaboration among NPR and Member station journalists. Previously, Bruce held roles such as Senior Supervising Producer, where oversight of long-form podcasts occurred, and Investigations Editor, contributing to NPR's award-winning investigations team. Bruce's earlier experience includes leading NPR's national security team and serving as Senior Supervising Editor for Morning Edition. Before joining NPR, Bruce worked at U.S. News & World Report in various editorial and reporting roles, including White House and Pentagon correspondent. Bruce holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Political Science from Northwestern University.
