Daniel Girma is an experienced producer currently working at NPR since January 2021, holding the positions of Producer I, Associate Producer, and Assistant Producer on the Embedded program, as well as having previously interned at Planet Money. In parallel, Daniel serves as the Politics and Film/TV Editor for Laid Off NYC. Prior to this, Daniel interned at WNYC Radio from September 2020 to December 2020. Daniel's early career included work as a Lab Technician at GIA from May 2014 to August 2019, where extensive testing and maintenance of various gemstone analysis instruments were performed. Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree in Earth Science and Creative Writing from Columbia University and a Master of Arts in Journalism from New York University.
