Eric Westervelt

Eric Westervelt is a seasoned journalist and news correspondent currently serving at NPR since August 2013, focusing on education in America and guest hosting various NPR programs. Westervelt was awarded a prestigious Stanford J.S. Knight Journalism Fellowship from September 2012 to July 2013, among 21 media professionals globally. Previously, Westervelt held significant roles at NPR, including Berlin Bureau Chief and Europe Correspondent from May 2009 to August 2012, where a revitalized office expanded NPR’s European coverage. Prior experience includes serving as Jerusalem Bureau Chief, covering critical events and conflicts in the Middle East, and a period on the National Desk, reporting on major domestic incidents, including the 9-11 attacks. Eric Westervelt earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and American Studies from Reed College and pursued further studies as part of the JS Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University.
