Jason DeRose is an experienced journalist specializing in religion and public life. Currently serving as the Religion & Belief Correspondent for NPR since April 2008, Jason has a deep focus on how belief influences American society and vice versa. Previous roles include Western Bureau Chief & Senior Editor at NPR, where Jason managed reporters across the western U.S., and Supervising Editor at the Business Desk, training reporters in business coverage. Prior experience includes senior positions at Chicago Public Radio, where Jason led the Arts & Culture Desk, and teaching roles at DePaul University and Northwestern University. Jason began a journalism career reporting on various topics and has received a Master of Divinity in Religion from the University of Chicago, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in English and Religion from St. Olaf College.
