Lloyd Schwartz is a distinguished Senior Editor of Classical Music at New York Arts since March 2013 and a Classical Music Critic for Fresh Air (NPR) since May 1987. Schwartz has been a Professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston since 1982, focusing on poetry in literature and creative writing workshops, including participation in the UMass Boston MFA program. Prior experience includes serving as a Classical Music Editor at Boston Phoenix from October 1977 until 2013 and as an Associate Professor of English at Boston State College from September 1971 to September 1982. Schwartz holds a Ph.D. in English and American Language and Literature from Harvard University and a Bachelor's degree from Queens College (CUNY).
