Senior Director Of Donor Communications at NPR

Melanie McCarty serves as the Senior Director of Donor Communications at NPR, a position held since August 2017, where responsibilities include building relationships with Member Station development leaders and developing strategies to enhance philanthropic engagement in public media. Prior to this role, Melanie worked as the Senior Manager of Collaborative Philanthropy and as a Senior Writer focusing on donor communications at NPR. Experience also includes a tenure at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as Donor Communications Manager/Senior Development Writer, generating significant gifts and translating complex scientific concepts. Earlier career experience at WAMU 88.5 encompassed roles as Major Gifts Officer and Member Service Associate, managing donor portfolios and crafting solicitations. Melanie is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at American University, having obtained a BA in Literature from the same institution.
