Michael Copley

Climate & Corporations Correspondent

Michael Copley is a seasoned journalist currently serving as the Climate & Corporations Correspondent for NPR since August 2022. Prior to this role, Copley worked at S&P Global from February 2013 to July 2022 as a Senior Reporter, focusing on renewable energy, the energy transition, and clean-energy investing. Copley began reporting on the renewable energy industry and has extensive experience as a reporter with The Record, covering the municipal beat in North Jersey's Meadowlands, and with The Brooklyn Ink, where local issues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn were covered. Additional experience includes general assignment reporting for Media General from 2008 to 2011, where topics such as local government and education were addressed. Copley also participated as a Multimedia Fellow at the Maynard Institute in 2009. Educationally, Copley holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Hampden-Sydney College.
