Rodney Carmichael

Hip-hop Journalist

Rodney Carmichael is a distinguished hip-hop journalist with extensive experience in cultural writing. Currently serving at NPR since January 2017, Carmichael specializes in exploring the intersections of hip-hop, identity, race, gender, art, technology, and the socioeconomics of Atlanta. Prior to NPR, Carmichael held several roles at Creative Loafing Atlanta from 2007 to 2017, including Senior Writer and Staff Culture Writer, where a focus on longform storytelling and engaging critical commentary on media and pop culture was emphasized.
