Sequoia Carrillo is a seasoned journalist and media professional currently serving as a Spencer Fellow at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism since August 2024. With extensive experience at NPR since September 2019, Carrillo has progressed through various roles on the Education Desk, including Reporter II, Reporter I, Assistant Editor, Production Assistant, and News Assistant. Prior experience includes a production assistant position at BackStory, internships with WME and the Smithsonian Institution, and a marketing and production internship at the Washington West International Film Festival. Carrillo holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Media Studies from the University of Virginia.
