William Chase

William Chase is an experienced professional in audio archive management and preservation, currently working at NPR since June 2014 in the role of Research, Archives and Data Strategy, overseeing the digitization and migration of NPR's broadcast audio archive. Previous positions include serving as a Contributing Writer for Black Grooves and as a Special Projects Audio Preservation Engineer at the Southern Folklife Collection, where responsibilities involved preservation transfers of analog tapes. Chase has also held the title of Sound Archivist at the State Archives of Florida, managing audio digitization processes and metadata documentation. Early career roles included positions as a Records Management Clerk at Intuition Systems, Inc., a Recording Production Intern at Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, and a Music Director at WVFS Tallahassee. Chase holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University.
