Stephen Cunnion has extensive work experience in various organizations. Stephen currently serves as the Global Medical Director at NRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc., starting in March 2020. Additionally, they hold the position of Senior Fellow and Medical Director for the Center for Health Policy & Preparedness at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, starting in April 2020. Stephen Cunnion has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organic Chemistry from Penn State University, which they received in 1967. Stephen then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Bio-organic Chemistry at UC Santa Barbara from 1969 to 1970. Following that, they completed a PhD in Bio-organic Chemistry with a specialization in enzymatic inhibition from UC Santa Barbara during the period of 1971 to 1976. Continuing their education, Stephen obtained a Medical Doctorate in Social Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco from 1974 to 1978. Lastly, they attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1977 to 1978, where they earned a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and International Health.
