James McBrien is a skilled professional in sports intelligence and data analysis with extensive experience in athletic performance. Currently serving as the Head of Sports Intelligence at the NSW Institute of Sport since September 2022, James previously worked as a Customer Success Specialist at Catapult and as a Sports Scientist & Data Analyst for the Newcastle Knights. James's expertise encompasses ownership and analysis of athlete performance data, the implementation of training load plans, and periodization based on performance metrics. Additional experience includes roles as an Athletic Performance Analyst and Strength & Conditioning Coach with the GWS Giants, as well as coaching and developmental roles in the AFL (NSW/ACT) aimed at promoting the sport. James holds a Master's degree in Data Science from James Cook University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Exercise & Sports Science from the University of Sydney.
