Dereje Abzaw

Dereje Abzaw has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Dereje began in 2017 as a Programmer and Researcher for Hanson Robotics Limited, where they worked on the Emotive Speech Generation project for Sophia, a humanoid robot. Dereje then joined iCog Labs in 2018, where they contributed to projects involving audio integration and generating realistic facial animations for the Sophia robot. Dereje implemented research papers and conducted emotional searching scripts. In 2019, Dereje worked as an AI Developer, Researcher, and Project Coordinator at iCog Labs, where they integrated 3D audio and worked on the Gazebo project. Dereje also worked as an Artificial Intelligence Developer, Project Manager, and Full Stack Developer for various clients from 2019 to 2021. In 2021, Dereje joined Tech1Factory as a Full Stack Developer and later worked as a Data Scientist and Consultant at USG Consulting. In 2022, they worked as a Director of IT and Backend Web Developer at I Love My Lender, LLC, where they managed programmers and web developers and integrated real-time US stock index data. Currently, Dereje is employed at NthDS as a Junior Software Developer and has also worked as a Data Science Intern. Overall, Dereje has demonstrated proficiency in programming, data science, AI development, and project coordination throughout their career.

Dereje Abzaw pursued their education at Addis Ababa University. From 2011 to 2016, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Following this, from 2021 to 2022, they pursued a Masters degree in Artificial Intelligence at the same university.
