Hugo Andrade has a diverse range of work experience in the tech and medical fields. Hugo started their career as an ERASMUS Intern at the Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials, where they worked on the synthesis and biocharacterization of a biodegradable elastomer.
After that, Hugo joined Fraunhofer Portugal as a Master Thesis Student, where they developed image processing algorithms for blood cell detection and counting in blood smear images, and integrated them into an Android application.
Currently, Hugo is working at Nuada, Lda as a Software Engineer. Hugo is involved in a project that focuses on providing patients and health professionals with a glove packed with motion sensors and a digital system for monitoring and assessing hand function. Hugo'sresponsibilities include developing an Android application, implementing real-time motion analysis algorithms, backend development for storing therapeutic reports, and real-time animation of a 3D hand avatar. Hugo is also actively involved in product-related activities such as communicating with clients and users for requirements elicitation, demonstrating prototypes and MVPs, and designing protocols for clinical trials.
Hugo Andrade completed their Master's degree in Software Engineering at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto from 2020 to 2022. Before that, from 2010 to 2015, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Bioengineering from the same university.
Additionally, Hugo Andrade has obtained several certifications. In May 2020, they completed the "Parallel, Concurrent, and Distributed Programming in Java Specialization" through Rice University. In April 2020, they obtained the "Building Cloud Services with the Java Spring Framework" certification from Vanderbilt University. In November 2017, they completed the "Android App Development Specialization" through Vanderbilt University. In April 2016, they obtained the "Server-side Development with NodeJS" certification from Coursera Course Certificates. In February 2016, they completed the "Programming Mobile Services for Android Handheld Systems: Communication" course and in November 2015, they completed the "Programming Mobile Services for Android Handheld Systems: Concurrency" course, both through Coursera. Lastly, in February 2015, they obtained the "Bioinformatics Algorithms (Part 1)" certification and in December 2014, they completed the "Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1" course, both from Coursera.
