Laurent has held various leadership roles throughout their career, working for companies such as Nubis Communications, MACOM, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Qualcomm, Ikanos Communications, Conexant, Globespan/GlobespanVirata, and Alcatel Cabling Systems.

At Nubis Communications, Laurent currently serves as the Principal Systems Engineer, leading a team in the development of a 1.6 Tbps Silicon Photonic Optical Engine integrated with laser modulator drivers and transimpedance amplifiers. Their responsibilities include participating in product specification and definition, conducting system level simulations, and analyzing the integration of the Nubis platform into customer's ML/AI systems.

Prior to joining Nubis Communications, Laurent worked as an Optical System Engineer at MACOM, where they led the system team in the development of a 100 Gbps Single Lambda PAM4 DR1 DSP for data center applications. Their responsibilities included auditing signal processing functionalities, simulating receiver performance, and analyzing the effects of various factors on receiver performance.

Before MACOM, Laurent was a PMTS Product Development Engineer at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, where they led the system team in the development of an 800 Gbps Integrated Coherent Optical Dual Polarization Transceiver for DWDM short-reach and long-haul applications. Laurent was responsible for specifying system performance requirements and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Laurent also has experience working as a Sr. Director of Technology at Qualcomm, managing a team of system architects and developers. Laurent was responsible for creating IP, specifying and developing PHY products for next-generation DSL and PLC technology.

Prior to Qualcomm, Laurent worked as a Sr. Director of Advanced PHY Layer Systems and Algorithms at Ikanos Communications, where they introduced innovation in the latest generation of DSL products. Laurent played a key role in securing the design of vectoring PHY support for a next-generation 1 Gbps G.FAST/VDSL2 solution.

Earlier in their career, Laurent worked at Conexant as the Director of xDSL FW development, overseeing the VDSL Firmware group and coordinating the development of multiple products. Laurent played a crucial role in transitioning CNXT's VDSL1 proprietary product to a VDSL2 standard compliant line.

Before Conexant, Laurent worked at Globespan/GlobespanVirata as a DSP Firmware Developer & Manager, leading a team in the development of the first ADSL solution for Japan. Their responsibilities included architecting and developing the ADSL solution, interacting with marketing and sales teams, and securing market deployments.

Laurent's career began as a Research Assistant at Université catholique de Louvain, where they conducted performance simulations for high-speed data transmission over TP mediums and contributed to the implementation of a VDSL communication system.

Their first industry job was as a Technical Marketing Engineer at Alcatel Cabling Systems, where they assisted the research engineering team in the development of connectivity elements for structured cabling systems.

Overall, Laurent Alloin has a wealth of experience in system engineering, product development, and leadership roles in the telecommunications industry.

Laurent Alloin received a Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from the Université catholique de Louvain between the years 1989 and 1995. In addition to their formal education, Laurent has obtained certifications in "Learning C++" from LinkedIn in October 2018 and "Spark for Machine Learning & AI" from LinkedIn in July 2018.
