Gary Tjersland has extensive work experience in the nuclear industry. Gary started their career in 1975 as a Project Engineer at Ebasco Engineering. In 1978, they joined Transnuclear, Inc. as a Project Manager and worked there for over two decades. In 1990, they moved to NAC International and served as the Manager of Projects until 1996. From 1996 to 1998, they worked at Holtec International as the Director of Licensing and Product Development. In 1999, they returned to NAC International and held the position of Director of Spent Fuel Storage and Transport Cask Operations.
Gary Tjersland began their education at Half Hollow Hills High School, where they graduated in 1967. Gary then attended the State University of New York Maritime College from 1967 to 1971, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Science. During their time at the college, they focused on studying Nuclear Engineering and Marine Engineering. In 1973, Gary enrolled at The Catholic University of America, where they pursued a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering and completed their studies in 1975. Lastly, Gary attended Pace University - Lubin School of Business from 1980 to 1983, during which they obtained a Master's of Business Administration with a specialization in International Business.
